Seit 2001verhandeln Prinz Gholam in ihrer performativen Arbeit das Selbst und den Körper als kulturelle Konstrukte. In der gemeinsamen performativen Aktion schaffen es die beiden Künstler, bewusst oder unbewusst eingeschriebene Haltungen unseres ikonographischen Erbes aufzudecken und zu durchbrechen. Ihre künstlerische Praxis entfaltet sich in diesem Künstlerbuch - das an den Geist der selbstverlegten Hefte anknüpft, die Prinz Gholam in den letzten Jahren gedruckt haben. Es zeigt in einer durchgängigen Bildsequenz mit einer Auswahl von Performances aus den letzten 15 Jahren, unter anderem auch die Arbeiten für die documenta 14. Die Schriftsteller Rawi Hage und Madeleine Thien eröffnen zudem einen persönlichen Einblick in das Werk des deutsch-libanesischen Künstlerduos. Beide sind Performance- und Videokünstler und leben in München. Since 2001 Prinz Gholam have been dealing with the self and the body as cultural constructs in their performative work. In the actions they perform together, the two artists succeed in revealing and breaking through the postures of our iconographic heritage that are consciously or unconsciously inscribed in us. Their artistic practice is laid out in this artists bookwhich follows in the spirit of the self-published booklets that Prinz Gholam have printed in recent years. It can be seen in a sequence of images that runs through a selection of performances from the last fifteen years, including the work they did for documenta 14.
